Other than an initial, no obligation, evaluation of your material, all of our publishing activities are governed by a written publishing contract signed by both parties. Our contracts define rights granted, publisher and author obligations, delivery dates, financial requirements, and other pertinent matters.
No. However, authors have generally found it advantageous to purchase a quantity of books for their own use, whether for selling them or giving them away. Since our royalty payout is 100% of trade sales, we find it necessary to add a financial consideration to our publishing agreements.
A non-exclusive contract means several things: 1) We have a binding agreement but you are free to contract with another publisher or self-publish your book after the initial publication with RBP is completed. 2) You can easily terminate your relationship with RBP if you choose to do so. 3) You own the rights to your edited text and cover design, which will be provided to you upon written request.
We have designed our publishing model to give every advantage to you, the author. River Birch Press wants you to have an exceptional publishing experience. If we achieve that goal, we believe our authors will want to stay with us for the long haul.
