Greater Things

120 Devotional Poems of Faith, Hope and Love

“The soul hears the Word and resonates with poetry. This discipline of ‘creative listening’ is felt on every page of David Kim’s new book, Greater Things.” —Michael Card, award winning artist, songwriter, and author

“Next to the Word of God itself, David’s writings are perfect for daily reading.” —Rev. Cory Ishida, Pastor Emeritus of Evergreen Baptist Church in Los Angeles

Greater Things was written during the unprecedented time of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The poems were first written to encourage and spiritually uplift the congregants of The Garden Church in Southern California. However, featured on national news and social media outlets, their reach extended far beyond the walls of one church as they provided much needed hope and comfort during a season of uncertainty and turmoil. The author’s hope is that they may provide spiritual encouragement to all who read them.

“As it says in Proverbs 25:11, ‘Like apples of gold in settings of silver, is a word spoken at the proper time,’ Pastor David Kim’s words have always been like apples of God in settings of silver whenever I read them. God has given him the gift of being able to use words as a soothing salve for a parched soul. Next to the Word of God itself, David’s writings are perfect for daily reading.” —Rev. Cory Ishida, Pastor Emeritus of Evergreen Baptist Church in Los Angeles

“In Greater Things, Pastor David Kim directs us to God’s promises in scripture. Through poetic prayers and faith responses, he inspires us to greater hope and faith in Jesus and His presence and power at work in and around us. If you’re struggling with fear or discouragement, or your heart just longs to be infused with joy and grateful praise to our great God, you will find this book water for your thirsty soul!” —Dr. Bill and Dr. Kristi Gaultiere, founders of Soul Shepherding and authors of Journey of the Soul: A Practical Guide to Emotional and Spiritual Growth

“I appreciate Pastor David Kim’s heart and soul in these devotional poems. His love and connection to God are expressed so passionately and honestly. These give us a way to connect to God when we don’t have our own words to express our soul’s need for hope, faith, and love. I love that each devotional starts with scripture that sets the theme of the poem, then his pastoral words, and then the poem. I look forward to using these in my times to connect with Jesus!” —Sandy Lee Schaupp, Spiritual Director of staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
